Some Facts On Same-sex Marriage and Homosexuality

A few months ago California became the second state (Massachusetts being the other) to recognize same sex marriage when its Supreme court nullified a state ban on said legal relations. Come November elections, the issue will be again subject to a referendum via Proposition 8 (California Marriage Protection Act) to amend the State constitution. Proponents of the bill claim that it will override the recent court ruling.

Same sex marriage is legally recognized in Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, South Africa, Spain and Norway (2009).

And here are some interesting facts.

1990 – Year when the World Health Organization officially removed homosexuality from its list of disorders.

It is a crime in 75 countries worldwide.

It is punishable by death in certain countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Yemen, Mauritania and Sudan.

About 1,500 animal species are known to practice same-sex coupling, including bears, gorillas, flamingos, owls, salmon and many others.

And while homosexual acts are common in the animal kingdom homophobia is exclusive to human beings.

    marriage for legal purposes has never been about love. its always about telling the state, we are reading to commit to society, and if we have children we will be ready to be able to take care of them.

    marriage for the states purposes has nothing to do with sexual attraction or love and everything to do with a child’s right to a mom and a dad.

      I think Homophobia should be added to the list of mental disorders. You obviously have an irrational fear of homosexuals. There are mental health professionals that can help you with this. Although, you may want to ask them what their sexual orientation happens to be, you might just get encounter a homo! (EEK!) What would you do then?

      In gay marriages it can increase the matters of adoptions so more children have two loving mothers or two loving fathers. If a man and woman get married, have kids, then divorce then remarry the child will still have two mothers and two fathers. If a child grows up in a gay home it does not necessarily mean the child will turn out gay. Homophobia is a real condition that can be cured. You should really look into it. My sister is bisexual and I have several gay friends. Get over yourself. Let people love who the want whether it be the same sex or not.

    why should Christianity justify our laws? so what if the bible says that marriage should be between a man and a woman. There are plenty of other relgions who are ok with gay marriage. take buddhists for example. they are A-Ok with homosexuals getting married. why should one religion justify our laws? Religion has no standing w/ law in america.
    I’m all for gay marriage, i belive they should have the same rights as anyone elsse. Sexual preference should not make a difference. they are still humam beings.

    So, I’m gay. & if people were to look at me they wouldn’t think so. I’m a normal teenager with a job, my senior year in high school and a criminal investigator in the future. I believe that if people have the right to their own religion, then they have the right to be married to whomever they choose. Bible says to marry one man and one woman, well I personally dont believe in the bible, but I sure do believe God wants me to be happy and therefore, being gay makes me happy. I’m not with it for sex. But in my opinion i think SOME heterosexual are just jealous because one, we have better connection with our lovers. Two, we fall in love and not many heterosexual find the one to live with for the rest of their life so they tend to critisize the one that found theirs. Why can’t everybody just respect one another and their decisions? I swear everyone is just losing it! (: I’m gay. And no one will tell me if it’s right or not.     It’s not really surprising why a lot of people don’t find anything wrong with same sex marriage. They simply don’t get it. They have never taken time to find out why. Who gave the world to us? Who gave us life? A lot of these truths are available for us to study. Go research. I challenge you. This is the same reasoning behind why a lot of people don’t find anything wrong with the RH bill.
